Maria Fitzpatrick is the PSAC's Regional Executive Vice-President (REVP) for the National Capital Region (NCR), a region containing almost one-third of the PSAC membership. Fitzpatrick was elected by delegates at the PSAC National Capital Region Convention May 25, 2008.

As an REVP, Maria is responsible for the following activities in her region: Regional Council, organizing and recertifications, education, political and social action, women's and equity programs, Area Councils, Directly Chartered Locals and separate employers, Federations of Labour and related committees and District Labour Councils.

She shares the following national responsibilities:

  • Local Development
  • National Pride Conference

She is responsible for the CFIA and Canada Post groups and represents the PSAC at the Public Service Commission Advisory Council.

She sits on the following National Board of Directors Committees:

  • Local Development
  • Equal Opportunity Committee (Co-chairs with REVP Robyn Benson)

Prior to her election as REVP, Fitzpatrick served as president of local 70041 of the Union of Solicitor General Employees. A parole officer for 20 years, she took part in her first strike in 1989 and has been a union activist ever since.
