Work force adjustment and your rights
The unthinkable has happened. After years of hard work and loyalty to the public service, you’re hearing that the employer is cutting its work force. You need to know what this means for you and what rights you have.
PSAC has negotiated job security language into many of our collective agreements. As well, we have negotiated extensive procedures and protections where employment could be threatened in collective agreements at:
- Treasury Board (Work Force Adjustment Appendix)
- Canada Revenue Agency (Work Force Adjustment Appendix)
- Parks Canada (Work Force Adjustment Appendix)
- Canadian Food Inspection Agency (Employment Transition Policy)
- Museum of Civilization
- Museum of Nature
- Museum of Science and Technology
- National Gallery
These appendices and policy take precedence over the job security provisions of your collective agreements and ensure you have options about how to face these situations, and time to prepare yourself and make sound decisions.
