Defending Quality Public Services

Public Services are Cool!

Summer 2007 is a key time to get our message out about the need to protect and improve quality public services—and restore those that have been cut. MPs will be in their ridings attending community events, including the BBQ circuit, from June to September.

In this pre-election period PSAC members across the country will be distributing Public Services are Cool! PDF fans and PDF leaflets to the public at these summer events. Members will also be lobbying MPs and candidates for the next federal election on issues of importance for our communities.

Our materials and lobbying will focus on:

  • Defending quality public services and the need to stop privatization, deregulation and cutbacks.
  • Promoting human rights and equality, with a specific call to restore women’s programs, child care, and programs that provide access to equality.

These two themes are core issues for the PSAC membership and the public—now and during the next federal election. They are all directly related to the work we do to deliver quality programs and services to Canadians, and are critical to protecting and improving quality of life for all of us. Do your part to get our message out: get involved in any summer actions in your region. Enjoy the summer…and stay cool!
