Royal Canadian Mint
Bargaining Update May 26, 2005
A new agreement between the PSAC and the Royal Canadian Mint.
The tentative agreement between the PSAC and the Royal Canadian Mint was ratified by the members in April and signed by the parties Tuesday, May 10, 2005. Almost 350 PSAC members work at the Royal Canadian Mint. Their previous collective agreement expired on December 31, 2004.
The contract will provide the members with improvements to their wages, around 9% over three years. There are also improvements in shift premium, dental plan, leaves and apprenticeship program. The collective agreement will expire on 31 December 2007.
The new agreement could be a turning point for those PSAC members.
“This has been a long and hard negotiation,” said GSU National President, Mark Brunell. “Both parties worked very hard and very seriously, and the end result could be a new start in labour relations at the RCM.”
