SV Team tables proposed pay package

The SV Team returned to the table at the end of April for another session with the employer.

The Ship's Crew Sub-committee has finished its work, with remaining issues and priorities returning to the main table. The outstanding Ship's Crews issues include:

  • Harmonization and Restructuring of Pay Grids
  • Improvements to the Lay Day Factor
  • Allowances and Long Service Pay
  • On Call Duty Pay
  • Acting Pay

Negotiating Team Member Glenn Horman presented the inconsistencies in the application of the zones rates of pay. The presentation graphically displayed the inequities that currently exist throughout the three zones.

There were discussions around the following issues this session:

  • Injury on duty
  • FR Overtime
  • Harmonization of Annual Hours

We continue to wait for the employer to provide a counter-proposal on Maternity Related Reassignment or Leave.

The SV Group Pay Proposal package was presented to the employer this session, on Thursday, May 1.

The proposal is set out in seven interrelated parts, beginning with market adjustments, zone elimination, grid restructuring and harmonization, and general economic increases. This was followed by Allowances and Premiums, duration of agreement, and pay note amendments resulting from any changes. The market adjustments are based on the 2003 Table 2 (PSAC-Treasury Board) joint pay study which lead to a 40% closing of the identified gap. In this round we are looking at closing the remaining gap. A bulletin has been posted on the PSAC web site detailing what factors were used to arrive at the 4.5% per year general economic increase proposal. The proposed three-year SV Pay Package will be posted on the PSAC web site.
