Health and Safety

It's Time to Enact Health and Safety Legislation for Parliament Hill Workers

Parliamentary Employment Staff Relations Act Part III

What does the absence of law mean to Parliament Hill Workers?
NO Laws means NO Protection!!!

No law means there is no process for the policing and the enforcement of health and safety standards.

  • We want to be legally covered by legal health and safety standards.

No law means that workers have no access to information related to their working conditions.

  • We want to know what is dangerous in the workplace.

No law means that workers cannot actively participate in the prevention of workplace accidents.

  • We want to work, not be injured at work!

No law means that health and safety committees where they exist, will continue to be a tool to delay real solutions.

  • We want Health and Safety Committees in all workplaces with monthly meetings, not every three months or more and we want our union to appoint Health and Safety Representatives, not the employer.

No law means that workers cannot exercise their right to refuse dangerous work.

  • We want to prevent injuries if work is dangerous, contrary to what some MP’s think this is a preventative measure to insure the protection of our health!

No law means that the employer can continue to keep workers in the dark about threats to their health.

  • We want answers and solutions not delays and excuses!
