The CLC Human Rights Working Group Committees
The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) Human Rights Committee was formed in the 1980s and is composed of representatives from unions affiliated to the CLC that wish to participant. The Committee has undertaken a number of initiatives over the past ten years, including:
- Human Rights Conferences
- Publications on various human rights issues
- Educational materials
Associated with the Committee are four Working Groups that were established in 1995. The PSAC is represented on these Working Groups by members elected to represent equity members at the PSAC Equal Opportunities Committee. The PSAC representatives on the CLC Working Groups are:
- Aboriginal Representative : Andre Paul is the PSAC representative on the CLC Aboriginal Working Group until the election at the next Unity Conference which will be held in September 2005
- Disability Representative : Cathy Scott is the PSAC Representative for Persons with Disabilities for the first half of the three year term which started in January 2005. Brother Robin East will be the Representative for the last part of the three year term.
- Lesbian / Gay / Bisexual / Transgendered Representative :Kay Sinclair is the PSAC Representative for GLBT for the first half of the three year term which started in November 2004. Brother Gerard Ennis will be the Representative for the last part of the three year term.
- Racially Visible Representative : Terri Lee is the PSAC representative on the CLC Aboriginal Working Group until the election at the next Unity Conference which will be held in September 2005.
