Tribunal turns down Canada Post
Canada Post has lost its latest attempt to stop the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal from doing its job and issuing a decision in our pay equity complaint. In March, CPC asked the Tribunal to wait until the Supreme Court of Canada issues a ruling in a pay equity complaint involving Air Canada and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).
The union was given an opportunity to respond to Canada Post’s submission to the Tribunal and argued strongly that their decision should not be delayed.
On April 19, the Tribunal rejected Canada Post’s request and will not delay the release of their decision. According to the Tribunal, their work on the decision is “fairly well advanced”. However, no definite date for its release has been given.
When the decision is issued, PSAC will post information on its web site and will send out the information to our pay equity e-mail subscribers.
